December 1st

Well... The holidays have officially begun.

I'm however ready to go to sleep and wake up.... I'm not even sure when. Every month has a day that is important, lets be real every day with the person you love is important. But, there's always that special day or two that pop up every month.

January... New years day, always a favorite for us. Chinese food and hoping for good fortune.

February... My nieces first birthday, Valentines Day...

March... St. Patrick's day, boy did Court love St. Patrick's day.

April... Easter, last year we hosted our first Easter in our home.

May... My birthday, my dads birthday, memorial day, mothers day.

June... June is full of death dates. June 8th- Karen, June 10th- Court, June 20th- My dad. There's no joy in June

July... The 4th, picnics and beer galore. Our annual trip to Rhode Island for Vacation, KJ and Bre's wedding anniversary is always spent there... Clamming, Court loved clamming.

August... August 5th, the day Court proposed and the the week after was our first trip to PTown.

September... 28th, the date we bought our house. 30th, our wedding anniversary

October... 3rd our first date anniversary, 23rd, our dating anniversary and of course another favorite, Halloween...

November.... 11th, Courts birthday, Thanksgiving... Countless family birthdays in between.

December... Christmas, my favorite holiday. Again, I'm grateful we got to host Christmas Eve at our house last year, a tradition we were excited to continue. New years Eve, the night you spend with the people you love, traditionally kissing the person you will spend the next year with at midnight...

Every month has a date that needs to be anticipated, a date that you try and forget. Then there are those random Mondays or Thursdays when Facebook decides to be super sweet and remind you of the time you cut down your first Christmas Tree, that time you went into the City for a long weekend, the Instagram perfect meal you prepped for the week or the snowstorm that kept you inside watching Netflix for 2 days straight. There are also those days, those memories. Those are the days that can really slap you in the face because there isn't necessarily a number on them. I mean, do you remember the date you took that impromptu trip to the Bahamas? Yeah, I don't either, but I'm sure Facebook will remind me soon enough...

December 1st. I never really thought of it as a day that would be hard, but when you are missing someone and longing for them, everyday hurts. It hurts seeing the Facebook posts about Christmas decorating and cutting down trees. Baby announcements are coming out left and right... That was going to be our Christmas surprise, a baby. How fun would that have been to join in on? We loved our life together. We loved sharing it with people online too, so I can't be upset about other people's joys. I am happy for them, it's just the secondary losses that come after losing a loved one are more than you'd ever know.

This year's first snow is today... On the first snow, Court and I would anxiously be waiting for it to start. As soon as enough had accumulated we'd go outside and mess around in it. Our first snow together we were at Sliders (a popular sports bar), it was a Sunday and we were watching football. We closed out our tab, went outside and had our "first kiss in the snow" before I left for work for the week and she went home. We had our first snow kiss at the apartment for the next two winters but, my favorite first snow kiss was at our house. It's the last first snow kiss i'll have with my wife. We sat in our living room looking out the bay window watching the snow fall. It was beautiful. I loved it, watching the snow slowly cover the street... soon enough, there was enough on the ground to play in. We both put on our boots, gloves and jackets and went out into the back yard. We threw snowballs at each other and threw the powder into the air... really, we should have been a Hallmark Christmas movie with this one... I ran over to Court and tackled her onto the ground. She started laughing "Babe what the fuck?!" and I kissed her. "I love you." I said. She grabbed onto me, threw snow in my face and kissed me back.

First snows... add it to the list.
